YLTC
no matter how tiring it may be, it definitely had been a fruitful and meaningful one (:
DAY 1:
assembly in school but some people turned up late and we had to go into pumping postition. what a great start isn't it? we made our way to changi adventure camp site and settle into our dorms. the girls had one dorm at first while the guys had two even though we had so much more girls there than guys?! the girls requested for one more dorm and it ende up girls having 2 dorms while the guys have only one. ahaha.
ice-breaker games were fun. i'm in group two and we named ourselves TEAM TITANS (: then we had the theme song for the carton teen titans as our cheer. which goes like that:
when there's trouble you know who to call,
TEAM TITANS.
when the evil lurks behind the wall,
TEAM TITANS.
You can call us anytime,
free incoming from 5 to 9,
we'll be ready at your door,
TEAM TITANS!
T-E-A-M T-I-T-A-N-S x 2
TEAM TITANS , let's go!!!!
hahas yeah it's pretty lame but i think it's cute as well. then each group were assigned to make our own flag. we got the colour red for our flag. beixi the AEP reject (hahaha) helped us draw the flag and it looked really nice. and we had more ice-breaker games after that.
Day 2:
Morning PT was okay i guess. easier than training definitely. we ran outside camp to about 1 or 2 km and we started doing loads of jumps and burpies on grass. it all seems like basketball movement to me since mr sham was the one leading the exercises. but the eighty star jumps back at the camp were killing me.
after that we spent the whole day kayaking which also means under the sun. i made sure i put one super uber think layer of sunblock because everyone come coming to tell me how dark i look like the other time after the KL sports trip. but my lips still got sunburned after that. and my face looks blacker now -.- we did a water confidence test before setting out with our kayaks. it was pretty fun. we get to hold each others hands and float together in a line to make sure our safety vest is working. and we had a mini lesson on kayaking before lunch, before our sea ex. my kayak darling partner, Enqin insist that she wants to try how to capsize so we're the only pair who capsized during the mini lesson.
after lunch we set off for our sea ex. according to mr Tong, it's 16 km altogether. we had to kayak from changi adventure camp to bedok jetty and we kayak all the way back again after that. i kayaked with enqin over to bedok jetty. but on the way back i kayaked with Trent because i felt drained and it'll be wonderful to get a guy kayak partner. he's really good i tell you. he keep telling me if i'm tired i can rest and not pedal at all. for a period of time i didnt kayak at all and i just sat there and ate apples. hahas. so mean right? but of course i helped him pedal most of the time except for a couple of mins?? cherie told me after that that me and trent were kayaking really fast (:
At night, we were told that the teachers wanted us to come up with more songs and cheers to sing during morning pt. they want us to sing and run at the same time! -.- and we thought of alot of really funny and dumb songs and the backstreet boys lead us with the singing and stuff. okay haha you must be wondering who's the backstreet boys. they're just four guys from our camp and they're totally jokers. they made me laugh till my tummy hurt that night because they were the ones who came up with the songs. we had the POKEMON, BARNEY, POWERPUFF GIRLS songs?! and a few more camp cheers like the banana one, a cold wind blows and the di~di~di shark one. i've never heard these songs before you know. but they're really nice. and i never knew how to sing the pokemon song and barney song before that but now i know how to! (:
after dinner, we had a land expedition and it was the first timei walked for such a long distance and time. we had to walk from changi all the way to jumbo there! and the problem is that we had to walk fast and we cant stop or slow down or else we'll never reach. we had to walk back after that too. sheesh my legs were numb after the walk.
Day 3:
Morning PT again. loads of push-ups. we sang all the songs we've gone trough last night while running.
we spent the whole day making a raft and setting out to sea in them. it was really challenging to tie the raft up if we're not careful, we'll get rope burns and blisters. finally finally it was done and we lauched it out. unfortunately i got seasick on the raft because it rocked alot more than a normal kayak and i couldnt take it. hahas. once again, i sat in the middle of the raft and stoned while the others pedal. it was such an awful feeling.
food cooking competition at night. we cooked with our mess tins and beixi who got an A for home econs previously displayed her god cooking skills. the food she cooked were really good. erm i helped to fry the sausages and i think they taste good (: you know my home econs isnt that good.. hahas.
day 4:
morning PT was pretty simple today due to lack of time. we did the high elements like rock-climbing, abseiling, the trust thingy and flying fox. oh my i hate the trust hight element. the pair had to lean on each other and walk on a rope in the high air to get over to the other side. me and enqin were the lousiest pair. we fell off the rope for umpteen times. while the other pairs didnt fall at all. but flying fox rocked (: beixi shouted i love hockey when she slided down while i shouted NETBALL! when i slide down. hehes. huiqi heard me from below and she cheered for me (:
then we had the obstacle course thingy and it was loads of fun as well. ew get to swing with ropes, throw wheel tyres, balance on thin wood and a very small area of space along with the whole group. we had to hug each other to balance on that small area of space it was pretty obscene but well it was still fun. we had to carry "immoblised" teammates from one spot to the other too. like trent, zhongming and enqin and beixi. mr tan chih yuan purposely chose trent and zhongming because they're the strongest guys in our group and left with us the less strong girls and guys to carry them -.-
we get to party all night long at night because there wasnt any programmes on and it was the last night. and the teachers told us there isn't any PT next morning as well. so we cheered and party till late 2am in the morning. vanessa, beixi and i were still wandering around at 2 plus before we felt bushed and went to sleep.
but WHAT THE HELL they sounded the emergency siren at 3am in the morning?!!! i only slept for one hour oh my goodness. finee i thought they just wanted to wake us up purposely and we'll get to go back to sleep after that after assembling but they told us we're gonna have a race of 10 km among the 8 groups! 10KM!! wad the gfdafdldkgakld!!! but we still had to run along after that. my group wanted to brisk walk throughout the whole thing but later we started jogging instead. i think my group was the noisiest out of all. we kept screaming to meena and lingyan and vanessa to go on and not to stop and cheer each other on all the way to the end. we cheered the canoeists cheer too "HEART AND SOUL, GO THE DISTANCE" hahas because we have matthew that canoeist in our group you see. Finally we finished the race and came in third! woohoo! good job titans! (:
by the time we reached back camp, it was around five to six plus in the morning already. which also mean that we cant go back to sleep no matter how much we wanted to. we ate breakfast and cleaned up the place and had our certficate presentation. we all got a certificate for completion of teh YLTC camp (:
BREAK CAMP (:
took a cab home by myself because nobody stays around sengkang area ): and ate KFC for lunch and slept from twelve to 7 pm. hahas.
YLTC is really a very meaningful camp. it really helps you think about your own development as a human being and as a leader. it raises one's endurance and persistance level too. it definintely had been a fuitful 5 days camp (:
I LOVE TEAM TITANS, every single one of you. you all made a difference in me definintely!
thanks for all the help and encouragement. love ya. (enqin, beixi, vanessa, shermin, meena, ling yan, zhong ming, trent, bruce, marcus, matthew)
p.s i forgot to mention how disgusting the toilets were. when we showered, the toilets flooded. seriously flooded. no joking. then there's like pantyliners floating on the water?? and pads pasted on the wall of the toilets. sick right?? and i remember the girls had to keep screaming to one another not to pee while showering or drop anything into the water because it'll be really disgusting as it's clogged. HAHAS. oh then outside the toilet, there's dustbins flooded with disposable panties and briefs and pads O.O oh and the cubicles do not have locks either. YUCK and the guys have shared bathing area the type that a few of them can shower together. and why do i know? because we used the guy's toilets too. hahas. but of course not the shared showering part.
